We at State of the Arts (SOTA) feel passionately
about the art
of dance and its effect
on the individual
and the community
as a whole.
The SOTA dance center was founded in 2001 by Janette
M. Sullivan as a center of excellence in dance training. It was
established to foster, inspire and promote the study and appreciation
of dance.

Statistics
reveal the benefits of studying a performing art are impressive,
with students achieving
40% better academically. |

The students at SOTA are all affected by their
lessons differently and we take that responsibility quite seriously.
The
positive effects
of a higher self-esteem, improved posture, self-expression, physical
and mental conditioning, and the pure joy of movement are what
give us the most satisfaction. The end result of this training — students
who are creative thinkers with an ability to push themselves
to higher achievements. Our philosophy is to insist from each student,
whether or not a professional career is planned, put in the very
best effort of
which he or she is capable, and to give in return exceptional training
and classes. All classes are taught by professional teachers and
performers who take care to provide the quality and attention the
student deserves, paying close attention to your child’s
artistic and physical development.
Our teachers' experience in all forms of dance
spans years of performing and teaching at every level. To broaden
our students’ appreciation
and understanding, the school offers an incomparable program of
special events, including the unique opportunity to perform with
and learn from professional guest artists and teachers.
The faculty is a unique and diverse group
of practicing professional dancers and teachers who earnestly
share their creative expertise
with our students. The instructors are caring and provide a positive
teaching and learning environment that not only challenges students
to achieve excellence in the development of their talents but also
nurtures the student’s emotional growth as well.
The faculty
also assists our exceptional young dancers who are preparing for
company auditions, intensive summer programs and college applications.
Our dancers’ acceptance rate is superb. We believe classical
ballet is the foundation for all other dance forms, and accomplishing
a solid ballet foundation is crucial to becoming a professional
dancer of any style. We offer a full spectrum of dance and movement classes for children
and adults, professionals and recreational dancers alike. State
of the Arts is a institution
for performing, visual and creative arts. It is a learning center and professional
company in-residence both committed to artistic excellence, offering a well-balanced
aesthetically and challenging arts program.
We
encourage students to take risks, challenge themselves
and experience a wide variety of dance and art forms. |

Class size is limited to
provide more individualized instruction and maintain the quality of the learning
experience. We provide a comprehensive program of artistic,
creative and academic development. The school empowers students
to become leaders,
challenging
them with innovative ideas as they prepare for professional careers. SOTA is dedicated to nurturing the community it
serves. With a collective goal of re-energizing the art forms,
we will, together, develop
outreach programs
and local performances, through a group of committed dancers, musicians,
artists
and arts presenters.
The best way to experience what we do is to come in observe or
take a class.
